Chams Theatre Series

Strong ethical and moral values provide the compass for the operation of Chams PLC. Those values undergird our approach to business; they also inform our intervention in the community in which we draw our sustenance. We believe at Chams PLC in contributing to society primarily through our products and services, which are focused on improving the quality of lives through the application of technology.

In 2008, we embarked on a major CSR initiative with the tradition of innovation as guiding principle. We introduced the Chams Theatre Series to draw attention to core values and emphasize the link between creativity in the arts and technology.

The Chams Theatre Series is a strategic intervention and contribution of Chams PLC to the rejuvenation of the Arts and Stage culture in Nigeria. It is also a means of promoting our culture and re-orienting Nigerians to the values that we hold dear. We believe those values should properl action in our society.

The Inaugural edition of the Chams Theatre Series featured English and Yoruba theatrical adaptations of a modern literary classic, the novel Ogboju Ode Ninu Igbo Irunmale written by the late Daniel Olorunfemi Fagunwa. It featured a four-city tour of Lagos, Ibadan, Ife and Abuja.

Professor Femi Ososfisan of the Univeristy of Ibadan presented the English adaptation while Professor Akinwunmi Ishola of the University of Ife wrote the Yoruba adaptation. The play is a story of bravery, discipline, ambition, industry, endurance, focus, perseverance, leadership, compassion and courage. It also speaks of integrity and fidelity. According to the Managing Director, Demola Aladekomo, the play "speaks to the values and traditions.
In 2009, performances from yet another prolific piece of Daniel Fagunwa’s works  titled  “Ireke Onibudo” was presented. The  English adaptation was presented by Professor Femi Osofisan of the University of Ibadan and the Yoruba adaptation by Professor Akinwunmi Ishola.
The Ireke Onibudo story captures the vicissitudes of life of “Ireke” the lead character and how, by applying the virtues of faith, perseverance, hard work and love, man can overcome. It is a story that resonates with us at Chams as the moral lessons says it all on our journey so far till date.
Ireke Onibudo was a four city tour of Abuja, Ibadan, Lagos and Ondo state staging the play eleven times in all spread over different locations ..See More ..
