Chams started off as a privately owned business in 1985 as a Computer Hardware And Maintenance Services company and has moved from Computer Maintenance to the future of ICT. Our mission over the last 22 years has been the “Advancement of Information Technology through the provision of high standard Professional Information Technology Services competitively and profitably.”
We stay true to our mission of designing and providing innovative and beneficial technologies by giving Nigerians access to ICT infrastructures that add value and convenience to their everyday life through our payments solutions. We have exposed our people to the variety of opportunities that avail in the ICT world. We provide the solution of the future by making sure that Nigeria gradually moves into a cashless, contact-less economy.

Chams started researching into Card technology in 1992 with card personalization, identity cards, enrolment logistics and Access control. This was a huge success and this achievement encourage the company to go further into smartcards, prepaid cards and several deployment of card based solution and infrastructures – ATM, digital malls, Interactive Kiosks, POS, et.al. We have evolved in such a way that we have changed the meaning of IT from Information Technology to Innovative Technology.
To date Chams Plc has remained a leading provider of Information Technology solutions in Nigeria, providing intelligent solutions to a wide range of public and private sector initiatives and pioneering new directions as well. We pride ourselves today as the first home-grown company to be listed in Guinness Book of World Record, for setting up the ChamsCity mega Digital Mall and also the owner of the largest card plant in the world now ceded to CardCentre, its Subsidiary.
The business concern of the new Chams Plc is the provision of infrastructure to drive e-payment, transaction and identity management and thus the subsidiaries and business units of the company are positioned to deliver this.


Some of our major achievements over the years include;

•    INEC Voters ID Card: Chams delivered 52 million Independent National Electoral Commission cards to be used by Nigerian voters.
•    Chams-NITDA: Chams in partnership with National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) are working towards the effective implementation of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) framework for Mobile Internet and Outsourcing Solution (MIOS). Chams has the exclusive right to deploy ChamsAccess Service Terminals to the 774 local governments in the country.
•    Chams-NIMC: The Federal Government of Nigeria awarded the implementation of the new National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to Chams consortium comprising of Chams Nig Plc as lead partner, SuperCard Nig Ltd, Nextzon Business Services and PAC solicitors.
•    NATIONAL ID: Chams is the first indigenous company to participate in the Nigeria National ID project which saw live production of the cards. Chams implemented the first successful rollout of the National ID card in 1999.
•    VALUCARD: was conceptualized by CHAMS in partnership with some banks in Nigeria to develop the first smart card technology in Nigeria and to date the organization provides technical assistance for effective implementation of payment solutions.
•    CASP Consortium for the Administration of Pensions and Salaries was developed in response to the many challenges faced by Government in the administration of its Workers' remuneration and payment of monthly Pensions to its Pensioners.

•    TIGA (Technology In Government In Africa), 2008 organized by the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) by Canada and Finland for Africa.  (Nomination was based on use of ICTs for public services delivery to citizens contributing to the development of the Information Society on the continent).
