CHAMS Plc, a computer hardware and maintenance company that has made inroad into transactional and financial payment systems as well as identification and card solutions, entered into a tripartite agreement with Daewoo International Corporation and Bitel Company Limited, both Korean-based companies when it signed a deal of $26million with the later at the just concluded three-day International Card Expo, in Lagos.
Present at the historic occasion, were the Managing Director of Chams Plc, Demola Aladekomo, and his Korean counterparts including Senior Vice President, Electronic Division, Daewoo, Mr Chan-Kun Han, and President, Bitel, Mr. S. G. Jung and other key industry stakeholders such as the Managing Director of ValueCard, Kyari Bukar, Valentino Obi, Managing Director of e-tranzact, with other representatives drawn from the financial service sector, among other ICT providers.
While commenting on the occasion, Bukar said it is to the credit of Chams that it has been able to achieve a lot of milestones over the years, saying that the only thing that can drive the success of a company in the ICT was patience and perseverance, virtues, which have stood Chams in good stead.
Responding to Bukar, Aladekomo said that the former has also played a major in ensuring the success story of Chams, as he recalled that the ValueCard boss single-handedly paid the sum of N6million among other logistic support when the company planned to set up shop in Abuja few years ago.
These gestures, Aladekomo said, showed that Chams has being a recipient of goodwill from different well-meaning organisations both within the country and abroad, even as he expressed gratitude to the people who have kept faith with his company over the years despite all odds.
Speaking in the same vein, Obi lauded the Aladekomo-led management of Chams, which he said has been able to champion a lot of innovation, especially the electronic payment platforms in the country, thus setting the pace for others in the industry.
The highpoint of the occasion was the unveiling of the Chams branded 40, 000 Point of Transaction Terminals, a new addition to Chams’ array of innovative products complete with the right technology available anywhere in the world.
In a related development, the management of Chams recently incorporated some selected companies into its Channels Partnership programme, most of which are expected to serve as a vehicle towards helping the company to achieve better economic mileage
The forum which was presided over by Tunji Adekoya, Head of Training and Personnel, also had heads of different subsidiaries and sister companies of Chams in attendance including Seye Femi-Gureje, Goke Idris, Idowu Logile and Kemi Joseph.
Others in attendance were the Managing Director, Aladekomo, and Mr. Ian Brown, African Regional Director, Datacard Corporation, a company which has being involved with Chams in the last 14 years.
In a brief remark, Aladekomo recalled that his company has had a long-lasting relationship with Datacard over the years, a period in which the company has grown to become a fortune 500 company, yet has remained a loyal partner thus far.
Of the international partners involved with Chams, Aladekomo said Datacard has remained one of its trusted business allies around, hence his company has decided to stay committed to the partnership.
Some of the companies which entered into partnership agreements with Chams include Pivotal Technology Ltd, Data Logic System, Fatis Prints and Brands, to mention just a few.
Some of representatives of the companies, who were present also, received different plaques and certificates for participating in the few weeks course Channels programme.
In a chat with one of the participants, Adepoju Arowolo of Fatis Prints, said his company looks forward to fruitful business with Chams.
