A truly pleasant surprise greeted six staff members
as the celebration of the 22nd Anniversary of Chams Nigeria Limed became the
launch pad for their joining the league of property owners in the sought-after
lekki neighborhood.
Three of the six got in addition, brand new Toyota
Corolla cars with market price of N3.4m each.
The recipients are Idowu Logile, Segun Ogunmola,
Jumoke Molade, Wasiu Falade, Abayomi Oyebanjo, and Kennedy Palmer. Others who
got parcels of land include femi Williams, Jimi Ademosu, Sola Omotayo and Goke
idris.
Their varied stories are interesting but have as
common theme, dedication to duty, loyalty to the company and a willingness to
go the extra mile.
Wasiu Falade, one of the new property owners at
lekki, joined Chams as an Office Assistant. He has served as Admin Assistant
and Technician. A tradesman, Mr. Falade qualified as a radio and television
technician and has the Basic Certificate in Office XP from NIIT.
Segun Ogunmola also received a parcel of land. He
joined Chams in 1992. Soon after, based on his expressed interest and
dedication, the company gave him a scholarship to study law. On graduation, he
decided to practice as legal counsel, but remains very close to Chams. Managing
Director Mr. Demola Aladekomo describes Ogunmola as "a staff member on
sabbatical."
Mrs.
Jumoke Molade similarly served the company with distinction, but is now on
sabbatical. She joined Chams as an industrial trainee from school. In March
1997, upon completion of her studies, She was assigned as Secretary to Head of
Marketing and later Secretary of the Welcome Office.
The company redeployed her to the MD's office
in March 1998, same month she got the first of several commendations. She
served as a marketer in the Public Sector and Major Projects department where
the company commended her for facilitating a major project for Supercard
Nigeria Limited with Nigeria Ports Authority. Earlier, in 2005, the company
also commended her for major contributions to the INEC tender.
Jumoke further showed her mettle as a marketer with
strong sales during the first private placement of Chams . She received another
commendation for her sale performance.
She won the most Loyal and Diligent staff senior
staff Award on March 9 2006, receiving a plaque and cash award.
Mr. Oluwatoyin Abayomi Oyebanjo is one of those who
got double honours of land and car. 48-year old "Uncle Yom", as he is
fondly called, is your never-say-die fellow - always ready and willing to learn
and improve. Oyebanjo joined Chams in 1991 as a technician. At that time, his
educational attainments included a Diploma in Radio, TV and Electronics and the
City & Guilds of London trade certification. He had worked with Sanyo
Nigeria Limited in Ibadan for three years and with Wale Technical Limited as
Purchasing Manager.
Since joining Chams, he has earned regular
promotions and notice for his hard work and commitment Mr. Oyebanjo expects to
earn a Diploma in Computer Engineering from Rufus Giwa Polytechnic just to
certify what he does on a daily basis.
Head of Corporate Services, idowu Logile is a Chams
man to the bone. His career speaks eloquently of resilience, determination as
well as loyalty and steadfast application to one's duties. Mr. Logile joined
Chams as a junior staff. He then took opportunity of an enabling human capital
empowerment environment to proceed for further studies at the University of Ife
. He studied law, and won the Amicable Insurance Price for Best Graduating
Student in Law Insurance in 1998. Thereafter, He returned to the services of
the company. No wonder, he got the double honours.
Kennedy Palmer also received the double-barrel
surprise of a car and parcel of land. Kennedy joined Chams in 1990. He
has served diligently from his position then as Office Assistant rising to the
level of Special Duties Manager. An insider in the company described him thus:
'Kennedy is your go-to man. He is the man who delivers on tasks and assignments
when the need 15 utmost"
