Following the successful commissioning of the ChamsCity Lagos, the first of about 30 digital malls/cyber centres planned across the country by Chams Plc, there are indications that the company has  concluded plans  to unveil the second facility in Abuja.

 Chams, a firm renowned for Identity solutions, e-payment and transactional services said the Abuja centre was already completed with 1000 state of the art all-in-one computer systems and the requisite staff already moving in, in readiness for commissioning. 

The Asst. General Manager, Chams Plc, Mr. Shola Bickersteth, said the Abuja ChamsCity would apart from offering an array of cutting edge services like  e-recruitment, e-ticketing, large scale registration, bill payment, e-banking, on-line examinations among others.  According to him, the Abuja facility would also be used for many activities including data capture and processing for national or organizational identity cards as well as the provision of data storage facilities for interested organizations.

The centre is positioned to provide the much  needed infrastructure upon which ICT can grow in the country.  

 The commissioning of ChamsCity Abuja is billed for December 10 with Mr. Tunde Lemo, the Deputy Governor,Financial Sector Surveillance Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as the Special Guest of Honour and other notable government officials from the Ministry of Communications, the National IT Development Agency and other private sector leaders are expected to be present at the event. 

 It will be recalled that the Lagos Chams City was commissioned on the 30th of October, 2008 by the Executive Vice-Chairman of NCC; Ernest Ndukwe. The Group Managing Director, Chams, Mr. Demola Aladekomo speaking on the facility said, the facility has been officially certified  bu the Guinness Book of World Records as the biggest digital mall/cyber centre globally.

 He added that the firm intended to make Nigeria a leader in many areas of ICT with ChamsCity as a precursor to actualizing that.  In other to ensure a robost, effective communication and connectivity, Chams not only have in place SAT -3, all ChamsCities are linked by Vsat, fibre optic and radio.
